On Thursday, March 30th, the Congressional Baby Caucus will be hosting a briefing from 10:30AM – 11:30AM in Rayburn HOB, Room 2255 about preschool expulsion and implicit bias. Preschoolers are expelled from their programs at three times the rate of K-12 students. Most alarming, African American children and especially boys are the most vulnerable. A distinguished panel will give an overview of new research on the role implicit bias might play in early childhood programs. Confirmed speakers include:

  • Walter Gilliam, Ph.D., Director, The Edward Zigler Center in Child Development and Social Policy, Yale School of Medicine

  • Howard C. Stevenson, Ph.D., Constance Clayton Professor of Urban Education; Professor of Africana Studies, University of Pennsylvania

  • Matthew Melmed, J.D., Executive Director, ZERO TO THREE
