In Case You Missed It: Emergency Child Care Funding Secured in Bipartisan Spending Bill

Just before the holiday recess, Congress passed, and President Biden signed, a Continuing Resolution (CR) to keep the federal government funded at FY24 levels through March 14, 2025. This critical measure includes $500 million in emergency child care funding, a significant win for child care providers, families, and advocates nationwide.

$250 Million for Nationwide Improvements:

Additional funding will enhance the affordability, access, and quality of child care programs in all states, distributed through CCDBG.

Impact on Tribal Communities

For Tribal child care programs, this funding translates to an approximate 2.8% increase for FY2024. These additional resources will help address ongoing challenges in providing culturally relevant, high-quality early care and education in Tribal communities.

Advocacy Made a Difference

The inclusion of this funding is a testament to the power of advocacy. Congressional leadership directly credited the voices of advocates, including those from Tribal communities, as instrumental in securing this critical funding. Together, our efforts have ensured that child care remains a national priority.
