This toolkit explores compensation for early care and education (ECE) professionals with similar job duties and expectations in other fields. It aims to assist ECE employers in addressing internal wage variances when employees with similar job duties and expectations have a wide range of compensation. Use this toolkit to better understand the compensation among ECE professionals as it relates to professionals in similar fields and/or conducting similar work across fields and across the nation.

Wage analysis is conducted across several ECE areas of work:

  • Child development and early learning professionals
  • Professional development and training professionals
  • Child nutrition professionals
  • Family support services
  • Administration
